Bukovyna Airlines has been counting its history since December 1945 when the 238th of a special purpose civil air squad based at the Chernovtsy Airport was created. The air squad grew and developed, its name changed, in addition to expanding and consolidating air-transport destination with cities of the Soviet Union, and pilots of airlines took part in numerous expeditions for aviation-chemical targets in Europe, Asia and Africa.
Beginning of the first years of independence, the Chernovtsy Joint Aviation Enterprise has been reorganized via the separation of the airport at 1994 year as an independent legal entity and with the establishing the Chernovtsy regional branch of the Ukrainian state airline “Air Ukraine”. At 1997 year, the reorganization of the State airline “Air Ukraine” was carried out by the separation of its regional units, including Chernovtsy airline. At the next year, the State Property Fund of Ukraine decided to privatize the airline, and at 1999, through its transformation, the Open Joint-Stock Company “Bukovyna Airlines“ as the assignee of the state Chernovtsy Aviation Enterprise, was established.
At the moment, Bukovyna Airlines is a dynamically developing company with good economic performance, and is one of the leading charter holiday carriers in the country. Bukovyna Airlines is based at Kiev City at the Boryspil International Airport. Air carrier performs international charter flights, and provides the needs of the largest domestic touristic operators for the following most popular holiday destinations: Egypt (Sharm-el-Sheikh, Hurghada), Turkey (Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman), Montenegro (Tivat), Tunisia (Monastir).
The main objective point of the Airline is to ensure flight safety in accordance with international standards. Currently in operation are DC-9-82 (MD-82) aircraft equipped by 172 passenger’s seats, which have established themselves as the optimal solution, and based on the existing route network, providing comfort and convenience for passengers on board throughout the flight. Air carrier has a fully licensed and highly qualified flight and engineering personnel.
Bukovyna Airlines will continue its activities to modernize and renew the fleet, expand the flights geography, and the scope of services, as well as improve the quality of service.
